We haven't eaten Red Meat here at the cottage for quite a number of years now, and so, much of our diet has been vegetarian based by default. We also grow a lot of our own vegetables and at the height of Summer, and even some points during Winter, we have a glut to use up. This course isn't necessarily just for Vegetarians. It's for any food lover who wants to try different flavours. We honestly believe that Vegetarian food is tastier and more interesting than a diet based solely around meat, because as cooks, you have to think a little more 'out of the box' and be more innovative. Vegetarian cooking can also be a lot cheaper than a meat based diet so in addition to discovering a whole new exciting way to cook, and having documented health benefits, vegetarian food can also ease the pressure on your wallet too. This course, which starts at the Cottage with you cooking your own Vegetarian brunch, is aimed at those who want, or would like to cook outdoors but not necessarily just in the traditional sense. The course will include cooking vegetarian chilli using a dutch oven over 'smoke',




On the day, you'll arrive for around 9.30am and you'll be shown around our orchard and inside the polytunnel, as well as 'The Piglet', our outdoor kitchen and BBQ shelter. After a cup of something hot, we'll start by showing you the apparatus you'll be using and you'll get to work by creating a vegetarian brunch, entirely over flame, smoke or fire. In the afternoon, we'll use some outdoor versions of indoor meals like vegetable tagine, smokey bean chilli, and polpette burgers. You'll take home what you don't eat, so please bring a few decent sized airtight containers so you can show your loved ones what a legend you've become in just a single day. The course will finish by 4pm.
