More people request a beginners course than anything else and on this course, we'll teach you, regardless of your current level of understanding, enough for you to want to go out and buy yourself a new BBQ on the way home. Using a variety of outdoor cookery apparatus, you'll make your own lunch before exploring some more adventurous techniques in the afternoon. Food hygiene is really, really important outdoors so we'll also ensure you understand how to keep everybody safe by using temperature monitoring equipment and heat control.
This course starts at 9.30am and after handshakes and a cuppa we'll do a quick tour before looking at the choice of equipment on hand. You'll then crack on with making a simple but super tasty lunch before really getting into the clever stuff that you may never knew was possible on a BBQ in the afternoon. Designed to be easy going and informative, this course can cater for specific areas of non-understanding if required. Expect a 4.30pm-ish finish.
What to expect
Fire & Smoke
During the course you'll learn how to cook directly in and on charcoal and how to use wood smoke to flavour your food. You'll also be shown how to safely light a BBQ.
Techniques
You'll be shown some of the very basics including how to light a BBQ, right through to using different equipment for different methods including direct and indirect cooking, cooking in embers, smoking and using pans and dutch ovens.
Good To Know
Parking available on-site. Minimum 2 and maximum 4 people per course. 20% discount per person when party of 4 booked at same time. Please advise of any allergies or intolerances at least 7 days in advance of the course.
